Who Leads RHHB?

First and foremost, we want God to lead RHHB. Sounds like the obvious answer…but this simple statement informs our posture in leadership. In essence, our leaders’ role is to seek God, to see where He is moving, to follow Him, and to bring others with them.

THE CAMPUS PASTOR

RHHB is directed and led by Campus Pastor Andrew Schey. Andrew joined the RH team in 2010 by the way of the Community Life team before stepping into the call to lead our community in Huntington Beach. Together with his wife Whitney, Andrew serves on the elder board and seeks God’s direction for the Huntington Beach campus as a whole.

THE TEAM MODEL

One thing we’ve learned is that ministry is not meant to be carried alone. From the RH elder board to our staff structure to our serve teams within each ministry, RHHB is led by teams. This provides stronger leadership through stability, complementary strengths and weaknesses, decisions made with broader perspective, and greater accountability.

STAFF

In addition to Andrew and Whitney, our staff also includes Brock Snook [community life], Emily Van Herk [families], Eli Hakimian [city pastor], and John McDonald [equipping]. One of the staff’s primary roles is to raise up, train, and empower volunteers at our campus.

LEADERSHIP TEAMS

Every ministry and team at RHHB has at least one volunteer leader at the helm. Our dedicated team of volunteers and leaders are the heartbeat of our church. They pray, serve, and help shoulder the practical and spiritual weight of our community. Find out more about these teams that are helping lead our campus.

EVERY BELIEVER IS A MINISTER

We believe that every follower of Jesus has a role to play in God’s Kingdom. Each person is uniquely made and equipped for the ministry that God has put before us. From the early days, we’ve been a church led largely by people simply stepping into their role as ministers of Jesus.

In fact, if you’ve been to a weekend celebration or any other gathering of our community, you were virtually surrounded by the leaders of RHHB, and not because we have a large paid staff. The primary charge given to each staff member is to equip, lead, and support volunteer leaders, ministers, and teams. We invite you to find your place in this community and to step into the unique role that God has called you to.
